What's The Best Way To Organise And Store Golfing Gear?

The summer is the ideal time to enjoy a relaxing game of golf, whether you see it as a mainly social occasion or are dedicated to maintaining your low handicap. Whatever your level, you will know that good golfing equipment can mean the difference between a mediocre round and a great one.

Key to keeping your golf gear on top form is making sure that it is stored in proper conditions, so that it is kept clean and dry and maintains its shape. Here are some tips for keeping your golf kit organised and protected from the elements.

Choose a secure dry location

Finding a safe space where your golf kit will not be in the way or knocked over or moved by other members of the household is the first step. Many people store golf equipment in a garage or shed. This is fine, but be vigilant for any signs of damp or humidity, as this can cause equipment to rust or develop mould.

If you can, choose a cool dry location out of direct sunlight. If you are concerned about temperature fluctuations or humidity levels, consider installing insulation and/or a dehumidifier to keep the conditions consistent and discourage damp that could cause corrosive damage.

Consider wall-mounted storage

If space is at a premium, consider investing in a wall-mounted golf storage rack that is designed to hold bags, clubs and accessories. This will keep your equipment raised off the ground, minimising the risk of damage from accidental knocks and scratches. It will also help to maintain a more consistent temperature and help to keep it drier and cleaner.

The purpose-made racks are designed to make your gear tidy and easily accessible, so you will always know where everything is and can keep an eye on its condition if you are not using it for a while, such as during the winter months. Adding labels to your storage solutions will make it even easier to find what you need and keep the space tidy and well organised.

Cleaning and maintenance

Before you store your kit, clean your club heads with mild soap and water and a soft bristle brush, and wipe the shafts with a damp cloth. Similarly clean balls and other accessories, and ensure that everything is thoroughly dry before storing. Leaving your kit encrusted with dirt or damp may cause it to deteriorate or rust.

Putting a good storage system in place for your golf equipment will not only make it easier and quicker for you to grab your gear and get out for a game, but it will also prolong its lifespan and ensure that it performs correctly. Golf kits can be expensive, and you want to get the best return on your investment by taking care of it properly.
